The ASA Firewall Field Kit isn't built yet, and nothing is for sale. It's a planned download for engineers who troubleshoot Cisco ASA firewalls: packet drops, NAT, failover and IPsec tunnels. The waitlist below decides whether it gets built.
What's planned
The PDF: about 25–30 print-ready pages
- A packet-flow and troubleshooting runbook.
- Recipes for packet-tracer and packet captures.
- An asp-drop reason decoder, with the real counters from the PingLabz ASAv lab.
- Worked NAT examples for ASA 8.3 and later.
- An active/standby failover build and checklist.
- IPsec phase 1 and phase 2 troubleshooting.
The lab files
ASAv Containerlab topologies that were already built and checked for the ASA posts on PingLabz: an inside/outside/DMZ lab, the asp-drop counter lab and an active/standby failover pair.
What it won't include
- ASAv images. Cisco doesn't allow them to be redistributed, so you bring your own.
- Performance testing. An unlicensed ASAv is limited to 100 Kbps, which is plenty for configuration and troubleshooting but not for throughput tests.
Free in the meantime
The 9-page ASA Field Reference stays free with a PingLabz account. You can get it from the Cisco ASA Cheat Sheet.
The lab posts the kit builds on are free to read: ASAv in Containerlab, ASA asp-drop counters, ASA active/standby failover and ASA NAT troubleshooting.
If the contents or the price change before launch, this page gets updated first.
