The Campus Access Field Kit isn't built yet, and nothing is for sale. It's a planned download for engineers who roll out wired 802.1X and MAB, work with ISE policy, or keep Catalyst 9800 controllers running. The waitlist below decides whether it gets built.
What's planned
The PDF: about 40–50 print-ready pages
- An 802.1X and MAB deployment runbook that moves from monitor mode to low-impact mode to closed mode, with a rollback plan.
- A decoder for show access-session and show authentication sessions output, with a lookup table for common failure reasons.
- A checklist for CoA, dynamic VLAN and dACL assignment.
- An EAP-TLS certificate checklist that covers ISE, the switch and the Windows 11 supplicant GPO.
- Catalyst 9800 from day 0 to day 2: a map of tags and profiles, the AP join flow with a troubleshooting tree, client state troubleshooting with RA traces, SSO HA, and an install-mode backup and upgrade checklist.
- A one-page first-response card for each of those topics.
The lab files
Containerlab topology files and configs for wired 802.1X, MAB and dynamic VLAN assignment, built on IOSv-L2 and FreeRADIUS. These labs already exist on PingLabz, and the outputs in them come from real runs. A C9800-CL lab guide is planned as well.
What it won't include
- Cisco images. Cisco doesn't allow them to be redistributed, so you bring your own IOSv-L2 and C9800-CL images.
- Cisco ISE. FreeRADIUS stands in for ISE in the labs, and the PDF says so wherever it matters.
- 9800 lab output that hasn't been captured yet. The C9800-CL lab still has to be built for the kit. If it doesn't hold up, the 9800 chapter ships as a runbook without lab output and is labeled that way.
Free in the meantime
